At the March 22nd Joint Selectboard and Trustee meeting, Unified Manager Evan Teich confirmed that the famed Essex Memorial Day Parade has been canceled for the second consecutive year: https://youtu.be/gVXP_ayR_Qo?t=800.
The Essex Memorial Day Parade Facebook Page has not been updated for nearly a year and the related website no longer works. Emails have not been returned.
Not one to let an important tradition fall by the wayside, local restaurateur and military veteran Darrell Langworthy, is organizing a parade of cars (and trucks) for the second year in a row. The event he spearheaded last year was well attended and received. He also organized a 4th of July parade.
Langworthy's event benefits local food bank Aunt Dot’s Place. In addition to financial donations, people along the parade route are encouraged to put out non-perishable food donations at the foot of their driveways to be picked up along the route.
The parade honors and remembers those who died in service to our country. Staging and launch will be at 34 Park Street on Sunday, May 30th at 10:00 am.
The final route has not been set, but there is a Facebook Event which is bound to get updated: https://fb.me/e/1gt0zhCcj
